Our commitment
Barbary macaques are classified as endangered on the IUCN Red list. Affenberg Salem and its partner parks see it as their task to protect Barbary macaques and preserve them as a species. This is done on different levels:
Raising public awareness for the need to protect this endangered species by giving people the opportunity to observe the Barbary macaques in a setting very similar to their natural habitat
Developing educational and environmental information in order to help engage our visitors (video, interactive boards, information panels, quiz)

What does BMAC do?
BMAC protects wild Barbary macaques in Morocco and preserves their habitats. In addition, the organization takes action against illegal trade with Barbary macaques and informs the Moroccan population about their situation.
How can you help?
Don´t visit circuses with wild animals
Avoid exotic animal markets and don’t have your picture taken with wild animals
Don´t watch TV series and movies with exotic animals, because usually they have an unhappy life
Don´t keep monkeys and other exotic animals as pets
Make sure to buy sustainable products
